    David Hockney

Pool made with Paper and Blue Ink for Book

"This lithograph relates to a period of experiment when Hockney was seeking means of suggesting the movement of sunlit water through various forms of stylized patterning in paintings such as 'Sunbather' (1966), 'Portrait of Nick Wilder' (1966), 'Picture of a Hollywood Swimming Pool'(1964) and 'Peter getting out of Nick's Pool' (1966) where the movement of the water is rendered as a mesh of curvilinear rhythmic lines. All these are recognized as among the artist's homoerotic masterpieces conveying the hedonistic lifestyle that typified the city of the Angels." - Lloyd Pollak

    Daniel Rakgoathe

    Council of Solace, 1973

"Rakgoathe was a mystic philosopher and his art an exponential expression of his psychic cartography. Primarily a printmaker, his expressive, intricate linocuts spell a syncretic blend of pan-African mythologies, Khoisan folklore, mystic cosmology, quantum tendrils and collective consciousness." - Robyn Lidsky & Lloyd Pollak
